Sioux Empire Wheels to work is an all volunteer organization. There is no paid staff. The vehicles given to applicants are donated or paid for with donations. If you donate to Sioux Empire Wheels to Work, you can be confident that 100% of your donation will be used to assist low-income, single parent families to obtain safe, reliable and affordable transportation.

- General Vehicle Guidelines
Vehicles needed: Cars that need no or little repair. We put single parent with small children in these vehicles. We don't care what the car looks like but it must be reliable starter and provide safe transportation for the single parent and children. We don't want to pass your headache car on to low income families who have enough problems. But if you have a good car which you feel is worth more than you can receive in selling or trading it in, we would love to receive it as a donation. We will give you the receipts and documentation you need to file the donation with your taxes.
Vehicles must have a clear title (no liens) - In most cases, an appropriate vehicle is matched with accepted applicant as soon as possible.
- In most cases, donations will be tax-deductible**. We will provide you with all the documentation and receipt.
- Sioux Empire Wheels to Work will provide documentation of the NADA value of the vehicle you donate. The NADA value is used by the Minnehaha County Treasurer as the value of the car for the excise taxes our applicants must pay when transferring the title into their name. Your tax advisor should be able to tell you if the NADA value is the correct amount for you too use on your taxes.
